Big Fish

Is it crazy to say I didn't like Big Fish that much? The concept of a great story telling man dying is awesome. I love movies about one great man, like Walter Mitty, Forest Gump, there's a couple others but I can't think of them right now. My main criticism is that the father is an ASSHOLE!!!

He is at his bed, dying, and his son is begging him, BEGGING HIM for one moment of genuine dad-ness, just wanting to know who he really is. His son is sick and tired of his dad just telling lies, stories meant for children.

Even in the movie his son says that he wasn't there for a lot of his childhood which, y'know, what a good job he did raising his child to hate his guts.

At the end of the movie when he says the joke quote, I didn't interpret it as him remembering a "joke". I interpret it as someone who gave in to his father being an asshole and finally accepting that he will never know his father.

Yes I have completed the movie.

Edit: Second point of criticism. The mother is just as bad as the father for letting it go this far. Sure it's different from her perspective because the man that she loves is dying, but she needs to think of her son too because he's a person. And even then she let it go too far before he was dying.

Third point of criticism: Tim Burton wasn't Tim Burton-ing in this movie. I mean, Sweeney Todd, Nightmare before Chris, Charlie and the chocolate Factory, Batman, Beetlejuice, this movie doesn't feel like it's a Tim Burton movie, the only element that is here that reminds me of him is Helena Bonham Carter appearing.

Fourth point of criticism: The story is all over the place which, like I mean yeah it's a whimsical goofy movie, but what are the chances that he's able to tell all these amazing stories in order of his life.

Edit 2: Yes I know it's made for kids and "it's not that deep" but it is for me.

Secret life of Walter mitty

The Secret life of Walter mitty is a masterpiece and I'm tired of pretending that it isn't. I love that goddamn movie. It might be one of the greatest movies that stars Ben Stiller... EVER.

This along with stranger than fiction are both ELITE movies, the cream of the crop.

if you haven't watched them then I HIGHLY... HIGHLY recommend it.
