Hey everyone, hope you all enjoyed the beta. Use this thread to post what you liked, didn't like and any changes you'd like to see be made. Please make sure your feedback is constructive and not simply "Game bad/game good" with no further explanation. The devs are going to read through this and your feedback could potentially make the game a better experience for everyone

TL;DR: Game has potential if the devs can listen to community feedback.

There's good stuff in here. I've been playing these games for a stupidly long time and I've put in more hours than id like to admit, and have been a top 100 player on 3 a few times and a consistent top player on UFC 5's online career so I feel like I have a decent understanding of the game.

UFC 6 is good, its not terrible, but not amazing either and I think with a few changes it can be pretty goddamn great.

Im going to list what I enjoy, what I dont like and what changes id personally make, it'll mostly be focused on gameplay but ill touch on presentation a little bit too.

THE GOOD.

- Visually this game is fucking fantastic, the models look insanely good, Max on the menu screens and Alex Pereria's model specifically look incredible, might be the best models I've seen in any video game.

- Cross play is a fucking god send, it should've been included in 5 but better late than never I suppose, it helps that its super smooth to invite players on other platforms and to get into a match.

- leg kicks feel viable, theyre quick, powerful and feel satisfying to land, theyre also easy to check if you can make the right reads, shockingly well balanced

- the fighters actually feel like themselves and not rough approximation, Alex punches and kicks like Alex would, MVP moves just like he does and has very flashy head movement. He's going to be a blast to watch in high level matches.

- Striking feels responsive, moving strikes are no longer slow as hell and un-viable, head movement looks crisp and all the new animations look good.

FLOW STATE

Flow state is getting it's own section cause its a mixed bag.

The idea of getting buffs for performing well is cool, but I think the execution is incredibly flawed and ruins the concept completely.

Treating it like a hero shooter ultimate is not the way to go, I know the odds of it changing are like slim to none but I think you can still make this work without having scrap the entire mechanic.

  1. The visual effect needs to go, its a little too over the top and looks like its out of WWE All-stars, I like the audio drowning out and the only thing in focus is your fighter breathing with their strikes, keep that, lose the visuals and just have it indicate by a more loose stance.

  2. Damage needs to be nerfed a bit. As fun as it is, and fuck its really fun, Pereria's flow state can literally end/or drastically change the fight in his favor with one decent mix up combo. They dont need to be nerfed into the ground, but they cant be fight altering WMDs either which leads into my next point.

  3. You need to lose meter progress if you're getting your ass kicked. This is my biggest issue with the system from a gameplay standpoint.

I'll give an example: i was playing Robert Whittaker against an Alex Pereria and I was getting *thrashed* lost most of the exchanges, got cut up and knocked down several times and lost the first round 10-8, now because I had been doing the certain actions to fill up my flow state i activated it during the second round while Alex was coming in and I landed a flush head kick. With Robert's flow state being an increase to round kicks and catching him in a vulnerability window i finished him with that one shot. It was kinda cool for a second, but I knew I absolutely did not deserve that win.

You should not be able to go into a flow state while you're getting beat that badly, it is completely antithetical to the idea of a flow state. My big changes to this would be:

- If you get rocked, you lose 10-20% of your meter, 25-30% if you get knocked down into an animation where you automatically get back up. If you get dropped into a finish the fight stage, all your meter should be gone.

- If you get rocked/dropped while in flow state you should lose it, cause at that point, your flow has been thrown off.

I can understand why people hate this mechanic. The way its been implemented forces this game into a traditional fighting game box which has never been the appeal of these games but I think a rework for it to be not so jarring/arcadey and it being well balanced could actually benefit the game a bit by providing small buffs for players to play like their fighters and not go for cheesy tactics.

THE BAD

- what the hell are we doing with the grappling here? I know the casual audience and a majority of the playerbase don't like grappling, but having no significant changes outside of a new position, a new clinch entry which no one has figured out how to do to my knowledge and at least one new sub that's not in the beta (thanks commentary bug!) Is insane, and given that they made "STAND THEM UP" chants louder in this game, I feel like we're never gonna get that significant rework to the grappling that it so desperately needs. The one good change they've made is that you cant force a health event in ground and pound (which is still bad, and i don't know why they haven't done away with this system) so you cant go for an undeniable sub unless you dropped them on the feet, which is nice. But EA needs to strike a balance between listening to the average consumer and the diehards, cause neglecting an entire aspect of the sport because a sect of fans dont understand/don't like it is only going to hurt these games in the long run.

- the sub system, which I like has seen no improvements in balance or features, its still two directions to escape and still submit or transition for the attackers. This system has potential but there wasn't even a move in quality in any direction, its just the same. This applies to the clinch as well. I know striking was seemingly their priority for this game but c'mon, we've had the same grappling system for 10 years we need some kind of changes.

- this is a personal one, but switching around the body kick and leg kick inputs was certainly a choice with uppercuts being changed in the last game it took some time to get used to but at least that change felt intuitive, I cannot see the reasoning behind this one and it just irks me that EA has to do something with the controls every release.

- The hud. Some of its good, i like being able to see all your health stats at once but its over designed and some crucial information like cuts and your block health are a little to obscured. Switch the name placement with the block meter and its honestly fine if a little over designed.

Overall, I think this can be a step up from 5 but if EA just doesnt do any meaningful balance changes/focuses on dropping alter egos then its going to suffer in the long run.

Hi y'all, as to not flood the sub with countless posts about the beta, I'm encouraging you to use this to find people to play with.

Few rules I'd wanna go over,

  1. ***DONT POST FOOTAGE*** you're under an NDA and EA has been known to ban anyone from their services who break that NDA. I don't think getting your EA account banned and losing access to any games you might have tied to your account is worth the reddit karma.

  2. Don't sell your beta codes. I don't people getting scammed out of their money cause they didn't get a code, please don't engage with people selling and just report anyone trying to sell. Beta access is tied to your account, so even with a code you can't get in to play unless your account was whitelisted

  3. Don't call people idiots for liking/disliking the game. You can disagree but do so in a mature and civilized manner, try and see where the other person is coming from and be understanding

  4. If you wanna find someone to play with (assuming the beta has invites) you can post your Xbox gamertag/PSN name here! (Not sure if the beta has crossplay enabled)

  5. UPDATE: I read through the NDA again, and apparently there is to be no discussion of any kind for this beta, which is weird but ill unlock this thread when they lift that.
