In that one discussion with Destiny, Taylor Lorenz kept rejecting accusations by saying essentially “I can’t be doing that, because I’m a journalist and that would be against the rules”.

Instead of addressing the accusations, she preached about the norms/rules/laws - hence my suggestion (if there isn’t a name for this already) to call this tactic “The Guilty Preacher”.
