Pro-Choice Art

Possibly sensitive content:

Has anyone ever done a pro-choice/reproductive health/abortion-themed sculpture, diorama, painting, etc.? Even just medical-themed things or doctors' offices/surgery rooms would be helpful!

Thanks in advance!

Grapes/Trellis/Vines

My daughter and I made tiny grapes for a project. They will eventually be on a trellis and have vines.

So, a couple of questions.

  1. I love the texture, but I feel like they need to be a darker color. I also need them to be slightly more “sturdy.” Should I mix paint with Mod Podge and paint them? If so, gloss or matte? Or a mix?

  2. I'm trying to use some thin woody vines I found outside. How can I make them bendable? I tried hot water and they still kept snapping!

  3. Has anyone made a grape trellis? Should I do a lattice-type fence?

*Extra points: Ideas for a compost bin that opens and closes, and a tomato plant and cage. I'm not sure I want to use wire (for the circular parts) and risk it getting bent. Will Mod Podge hold a poly-elastic cord in a circle? I have a silver one that would be perfect. I'll add a photo.

In Desperate Need of Professional Help!

I am going to paint this play table. I know I need to sand it, but what kind of paint should I use? I have heard to use a “water-based urethane alkyd enamel.” I don’t even know what that is.

For more info, I’m going to turn it into a Cars playset for my disabled child. With that being said, the paint needs to be durable and easy to clean. I want it to be black, but the top will be also be painted with acrylics. So I assume I will need a topcoat? Will I need primer, too?

What is the cheapest way to do this with the best outcome for our specific needs?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

Steamed Artichoke Heart

My baby is six months old and has all signs of readiness. He did great with one of those stick/snack things, but I want his first “real” meal to be steamed artichokes. Obviously it will just be the heart left on the stem.

Has anyone else done this? What were your babies' first foods?
