How do I make sure he knows I'm not laughing at him?

Okay so there's this guy I've been staring at at lunch, I think he's really cute and from what I've seen with his mannerisms, we have a lot in common. Anyways, for context, I've built a very dorky, hopeless romantic persona around my friends because as much as I've had massive crushes on guys but never had the balls to ask anyone out. But for some reason, I've been convinced to ask this guy out even though I know next to nothing about him. Mind you, my crushes usually last over 6 months, my last crush lasted 7, I've only been into this guy for a month or so, and I've only been serious about him for a few weeks. Okay back to the original question, because if my dorky persona a lot of times I tend to laugh really hard with my friends, especially when I'm gushing about my crush. Along with that, he also has comedic timing of when he shows up. Like my friend will be talking about how I'm waiting to see 'my man' and I look up and he's standing there and I burst out laughing. Today I was supposed to ask him out and my friend mentioned his friend's name and he turned around and looked straight at us and I (being the dumbass I naturally am) comically turned my head the other way trying not to laugh. From how I've been acting I feel like I've been coming off as laughing at him, when in reality it's usually me that's the butt of the joke. I feel really bad because I don't want anyone to feel like they're being asked out as a joke. It happened a lot to me last year and I never want someone to expirence what I went through. So how do I explain to him, or at least show him, that I geninuely like him and I haven't been laughing at him? I really like him and the last thing I want is for him to think I'm picking on him.

That sounds really creepy, but my friend is trying to find one of his friend's friend because he hasnt heard from her in a really long time and he's really concerned. I don't know what to do but typically Reddit has good advice, I just don't know where to look on here.
