My wing ripped up my Miata’s trunk lid. What’s the most economical way to repair these holes? I’m getting quotes for 450-800 dollars to fix this so was wondering what some of my options were diy or maybe cheaper professional repair. With DIY, I I don’t have a welder.

An option I was looking at was just patching up the big holes cheaply, by either just cutting the metal or bending it down then adding fiberglass to the inside, body filler on the outside, then painting (I’d probably just use some touch up paint).

Another option was installing a duckbill after fixing the holes enough so that the repair doesn’t look like an eyesore. After my DIY if I like how it looks I’ll consider this option down the line, but if it looks really bad I’ll just throw the duckbill on and it’ll cover up how it looks anyway.

Last option is just buying a trunk lid and having it painted maybe by me (it’ll have to be a rattle can spray job though) or a professional. This option will likely still be 250-500 dollars anyways.
