Internet Air vs 25mbps Copper
Hey all, I live in a rural area with very few options for home internet. Spectrum recently rolled out fiber to some houses in the area, and I tried to switch, but they said that my house could not be connected as it was ~1800ft away from the line and they were not willing to bury that much fiber for me.
I have had AT&T for roughly 2 years with 25mbps down, but the copper in my area is degrading, and my service uptime has dramatically decreased. They did knock about $20/month off my bill, and have placed an order for me to be switched to Internet Air. Is it as bad as people say? I guess I don’t really have much of a choice, other than hoping some company will decide to roll out fiber to my house in the middle of the woods off a dirt road. What thoughts do y’all have? Should I fight to keep my current, wired internet? They said that currently, I have the choice to keep it, but eventually it will be completely phased out and they will only be offering Fiber or Air, and once I switch I will not be able to get my old internet back.
