Oil change

I have always gotten an oil change at 1,000 miles in new cars. Today the dealer turned me away and said that’s not necessary anymore. Am I just old school?

Advice please

My father is widowed. He is 80 and my mother passed unexpectedly last summer. He has been sad and lonely. He lives several hours away and after many back and forth convos has agreed to move closer so I can help him. I am married with two children. My idea of closer was a nearby apartment or condo. However he would like to move into our house. There is a room that can be his but I am worried about strain on my relationship, lifestyle and overall stress. I don’t think he would stress me out or need much from me as he is relatively still independent. But I worry about it. His mother lived with us when I was a child and so I feel that this is something I should do.
