Help choosing my first snowboard: Ride Algorythm 164W vs True Twin alternatives? (193 cm / 100 kg / All-Mountain + Freestyle)
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to buy my first snowboard after renting boards for the past few years.
About me
Height: 193 cm (6'4")
Weight: 100 kg (220 lbs)
Boot size: EU 45–46
Riding level: Intermediate to advanced
Snowboarding about 3 times per year for several years
Riding style
I spend most of my time on groomed runs and enjoy:
Fast carving and dynamic turns
Side hits and bunny hops
Occasional 180s and 360s
Some switch riding
Want to start spending more time in the park
Boards I'm considering
My current top choice is the Ride Algorythm 164W (2026 model), which I can get for €469.
Other boards I’ve looked at:
Ride Shadowban 160W
Capita DOA 161W / 163W
Jones Tweaker 162W
Jones Mountain Twin 162W
My main question
Since I ride mostly piste but also want to improve freestyle and park skills:
Would you recommend a directional twin like the Ride Algorythm, or should I go for a true twin instead?
I'm not focused on rails or advanced park riding, but I do want a board that:
Carves well at higher speeds
Feels stable for my weight
Is good for jumps, spins, and occasional park laps
Will remain fun and suitable for several years
Size question
At 193 cm and 100 kg, is 164W the better choice, or would something around 160W–162W be sufficient?
Planned setup
Bindings: Nidecker Supermatic
Boots: Ride Lasso
Would really appreciate any advice, especially from riders with a similar height/weight and riding style.
Thanks!
