RX 7600 - Constant Driver Timeouts and Access Violations (Death Stranding / Fortnite)

Computer Type: Desktop

GPU: RX 7600 OC 8GB Gigabyte (Triple Fan model)

CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F

Motherboard: H510M-HVS R2.0

BIOS Version: P1.50 (12/05/2022)

RAM: 16GB (2x8GB)

PSU: Azza 650W 80 Plus Bronze (PSAZ-650W)

Case: Mancer CV100

Operating System & Version: Windows 10 Home/Pro 22H2

GPU Drivers: AMD Adrenalin 26.3.1 (Also tested various older stable versions)

Chipset Drivers: Intel H510 Chipset

Background Applications: Discord, Steam, WhatsApp, Wallpaper Engine (Tested closing all of them, but the issue persists)

Description of Original Problem: I am experiencing constant "Driver Timeout" and "Access Violation" crashes in games like Death Stranding and Fortnite (on "Epic" settings). In Death Stranding, the game runs smoothly for about 15-30 minutes before crashing. In Fortnite, it lasts 5 minutes at most before the driver timeout occurs.

My brother has a practically identical PC (same PSU, same motherboard, and same BIOS version) and is facing the exact same issues. This leads me to believe it is either a power delivery issue or a specific hardware/BIOS incompatibility, especially since our BIOS (P1.50) was released a full year before this GPU hit the market.

Troubleshooting:

  • Clean driver reinstallation using DDU.
  • Tested both the current (26.3.1) and older stable driver versions.
  • Attempted limiting/underclocking the GPU clock speeds.
  • Tested playing with all background applications closed.

None of the above resolved the issue. I strongly suspect either the outdated BIOS or the Azza 650W PSU, as the crashes happen during power spikes/high demand moments. What are your thoughts on this?

  • Reinstalação limpa de drivers via DDU;
  • Testes com drivers antigos e mais estáveis;
  • Limitação do clock da GPU.
  • e etc

Especificações do PC:

  • Processador: Intel Core i5-10400F
  • GPU: RX 7600 OC 8GB Gigabyte (modelo Triple Fan)
  • Memória: 16GB RAM (2x8)
  • Placa-mãe: H510M-HVS R2.0 (BIOS de 2022, nunca atualizada)
  • Fonte: Azza 650W, 80 Plus Bronze (PSAZ-650W)

Vocês acham que o problema pode ser realmente a fonte ou a BIOS? Ou haveria outra causa provável?

Hey guys,

My brother and I both bought a Gigabyte RX 7600 8GB OC (3-fan model) last week, and since then I’ve been getting crashes in some games when running on max settings, mainly Fortnite and Death Stranding.

I’ve already tried:

  • Reinstalling drivers with DDU
  • Testing older driver versions
  • Limiting GPU clock

Nothing fixed it so far.

My brother has a nearly identical PC and was having the same “Driver Timeout” issue. While troubleshooting, we found some motherboard cables weren’t properly connected in both systems. After fixing that, his PC improved a lot and only crashed once after a few matches. Mine still crashes quickly in Fortnite.

I also ran a stress test, and after about 7 minutes, the circuit breaker tripped in the room where my PC is, and also in the laundry room where a dryer was running. This happened before I fixed the loose cables.

Because of this, I’m starting to think it might be a power supply or house electrical issue, but I’m not sure.

Specs:

  • Motherboard: ASRock H510M-HVS R2.0 (same as my brother’s, BIOS hasn’t been updated since 2022 — could this be causing the crashes with a newer GPU?)
  • CPU: i5-10400F
  • RAM: 16GB (2x8GB)
  • GPU: Gigabyte RX 7600
  • PSU: Azza 650W
