Have a bad crush on my demi friend and don’t wanna mess it up
I’ve been friends with this person for about two years now, and really close for most of that time. When we met, they thought they were aro/ace, but they came out as Demi about a year ago on the dot. And. Guys it’s so bad.
I care about them so, so much. I literally do not care about what our relationship looks like, if it’s platonic or romantic or anything else, I just can’t imagine driving a wedge between us if they don’t feel the same. I’m personally not Demi/aro/ace, so I wanted to ask people who actually got it what they would hope someone in my situation would do.
Have any of you guys been on the receiving end of a confession from someone you were friends with? Did it fuck things up? Obviously none of you are in their head, but if something like this has a somewhat consensus reaction I’d like to know if it’s worth risking what we have.
(This is only made more difficult by the fact they’re roommates with one of our mutual best friends and it’s so impossible to ever get alone time w them but that’s not an r/demi problem. That’s just unfortunate)
