I'm an archaeology student preparing to go on my first dig this summer! It's in a very hot and dry area so dust and sweat are going to be by biggest problem. I've got curly hair that is extremely extremely thick and i've been unable to braid it myself so far. I've tried looking online for different methods especially in backpacking circles in order to find practical solutions but I haven't had any luck. It's seems like the best option would be to buzz my head again but i'm only going to be out there for two weeks and so I'd really like to avoid that.

I've asked a hairdresser about maybe getting my hair braided professionally before hand but she said it would be a bad idea because of the dust.

Routine wise when I'm taking care of my hair at home I use the shea moisture brand for shampoo and conditioner and sleep with a bonnet.

If anyone has any recommendations I would be incredibly grateful!
