Only retriever that is not food motivated
Hello everyone and thank you for your time. My golden retriever is a female and she is 1 year and 1 month old. Today I took her to the vet because of a mass on her head. However the veterinarian was more concerned about her weight. She weighs 68 pounds which is the same weight had had about 4 months ago.
I mentioned to the veterinarian that she is very picky with her food. She also has a chicken allergy which the vet had recommended I switch to salmon. I did that for the last 10 months and she just won’t eat. I feed her Purina pro sensitive stomach, and she simply won’t eat or maybe eat once a day. She likes treats and even salmon Jerky treats. I’ve tried pumpkin puree to entice her as well as Purina pro sensitive stomach wet dog food. I’ve tried taking the food away and trying again the next meal time but she won’t budge.
I asked the veterinarian what other food I could use and he recommend anything with pork, lamb, spelt, or bison that follows the AAFCO guidelines. I’m here to ask you all if there is a food brand you recommend or any tips to help me out.
