I played at a drop in session at my local rec center tonight, open to anyone ages 19-99, all skill levels welcome. I always go to have fun, improve my game, and socialize with other people who love playing.
There’s this one guy on my team who was criticizing and shaming everyone who missed a ball the entire night. He’d get angry and say things like “OMG GUYS?!? WHY ARE YOU NOT COVERING!” Or “GET THE BALL, COME ON!!” If he wasn’t shaming the team, then he’d make a face that gave off “I want to kill you” energy.
I reminded him that this is just for fun and that he needs to back off, but he continued to go after all the other players on the team.
The thing is he wasn’t a stand out player by any means, below average and also missed many balls. Is this common behaviour in a rec drop in setting? Never experienced aggression like that before..
