I (F18) went to prom with my now ex boyfriend. (M18). I broke up with him over this, because I found it extremely disrespectful. We had planned to match outfits for prom, months in advance, only for the week before he tells me he’s not matching with me because he never bought his outfit. I said whatever we will still have fun but I was a bit heartbroken over the fact we were the only couple who wouldn’t be matching. On the way driving to prom he tells me he really wants to bring his friend, who doesn’t even go to the same school as us. We pick her up, she’s not dressed up at all, we get the prom and he made me PAY FOR HER. I was also friends with her so I was trying really hard not to take it the wrong way, but then the slow songs came on, my bf immediately leaves me and gose to her, he dident even talk to me the whole night, I never even got to dance with him, I watched them dance from the side lines the whole night. Not to long after I told him we are over, he’s mad and says she was just a friend but I don’t believe it. He keeps claiming I’m taking it to seriously and the girl is on his side, both saying she’s just a friend but I feel like I was completely overshadowed at prom, not even getting to feel special. Am I over reacting by breaking up with him?
