Hot tub cover tips
Need some advice for my hot tub cover and lifter.
We live in Canada and weather reaches -40 degres during winter time. We've had our hot tub for 4 years now, running all year long.
Our cover is now starting to fill with water which makes it super heavy and overfills our hot tub water and probably not very effective to keep the heat in now. We plan to replace it but I'd like to know if there is anything we can do to help keep the cover dry and help its longevity? Are any of those waterproof cover for hot tub cover is worth it / makes a real difference?
Also would like some input for a cover lifter, ours just snapped in half as the cover was too heavy 🫠 We don't wanna put a gazebo on top and we need something that doesn't require that much clearance as the hot tub is almost burried in snow during winter (we'd like to not have to shovel around)
Our lifter was fixed on both side of the hot tub, not hydraulic so the fixations are already there and not broken so we are opting to use the same kind and just replace the tube (looks like the picture) but I'm wondering if an hydraulic lifter would be better and more reliable and mostly reliable for cold temperatures?
