Hi everyone

My gym recently added a hip thrust machine. I solely used barbells before which worked well but it’s a pain to set up and put back. The hip thrust machine seemed to be a life saver. My gym added the one by primal but i have an issue with it. Twice since i have used it, the buckle has just come out and the whole thing came undone and fell. I don’t understand why this is happening. I have attached a picture of the type of lock the belt has. Im not sure if the design itself is a problem or if i am making the belt too tight/not tight enough or if my technique could be causing this.

I am now just so hesitant when i use the machine which really hinders the effectiveness of my workout. I am too scared to even add weight. Not sure if i should just switch back to barbells but i really want this to work. Has anyone had experience with this brand of the hip thrust machine and has any advice /would like to share their experience ?

P.S. the gym workers i have asked don’t really know what they are doing either. Most of them don’t actually lift themselves so it’s not really helpful to ask.

I do plan on asking another member when i see them using the machine but it gives me anxiety to interrupt peoples workout so i wanted to ask here first.
