Artists you dismissed as novelties that are actually good?

Artists you dismissed as novelties that are actually good?

I hate quirky rock bands with ska influence, and from the little bit I had seen of Oingo Boingo, they seemed the poster child of that. Then, YouTube started spamming my recommendations with the "Dead Man's Party" music video. So, I finally gave in and found out that "novelty song" is actually good?! They're a surprisingly tight band. Definitely weird, but in more of a Devo way than a Dog Police way.

Looking for (preferably a metalhead) to redraw this in an anime-lite style

Threw this together in Google Slides And Gimp for a review of Fear Factory's "Linchpin." Yes, that's guitarist Dino Cazarez with a Kid Rock tattoo and Fred Durst as a floating demon head. Feel free to overhaul the font and background.

I have other videos planned, so if I like the results, you might be hit up again.

Albums that are wrongly considered flops?

Turbo by Judas Priest is the poster child of a metal band trying and failing to sell out. Or is it? Despite poor reviews upon release, it was Judas Priest's last album that was certified platinum. And that wasn't just initial hype, since it was supported by the successful Fuel for Life Tour and three singles. "Turbo Lover" and "Locked In" were successful on rock charts and continue to get played live. Even the infamous "Parental Guidance" received some airplay on MTV.

Still, anything Judas Priest released after Defenders of the Faith would do well. What about the music? Besides more pop hooks and synths, which I don't mind, it's still good. That's not just me. I see a lot more affection for this album nowadays.

Carl Douglas could've been a major player in disco during the 70s if the label had kept "I Want to Give You My Everything" as the A-side. It's a beautiful song with all the makings of a hit in the soul-dominated 1974. Even if they still released "Kung Fu Fighting" as a single (which I'd hope so, as I can't imagine a world without its cultural impact), Douglas would already have his foot in the door as a legit artist.
