Accounting Degree Questions

Hey everyone,

I’m 21 and about to start an accounting degree after previously attending community college for a different path that ultimately was not the right fit for me. I’m essentially starting from scratch and trying to understand how the progression in this field actually works long term. For those of you already established in accounting or further along in your careers, did you feel the degree opened solid opportunities for you? What did your progression look like from school into becoming employable and eventually building a stable career? I’m also trying to think realistically about the future job market with AI and automation changing a lot of industries. Because of that, I want to make sure I position myself as competitively as possible early on rather than just relying on the degree alone. What certifications, internships, technical skills, networking strategies, or work experience helped you stand out the most when you were starting out? If you were beginning again today with no experience, what would you prioritize to make yourself highly employable over the next few years?

I appreciate any advice. I’m new to this field and trying to understand the smartest way to approach it from the beginning.

WGU Study.com Question

Hello,

I was previously enrolled at Western Governors University studying Accounting, but I dropped out after about three months. It’s been around seven months now, and I’m thinking about reenrolling. I had a question about transferring credits from Study.com. If I take accounting classes through Study.com that are listed as guaranteed transfers into WGU, will they still transfer even though I was already admitted and attended WGU before? Or does my previous enrollment affect that at all? I’m also wondering how people figure out exactly which Study.com classes to take for the accounting program. Are all the classes on the study.com transfer guide the ones I should take? Or is there more?

Thanks
