For me it’s always I’m just being honest or no offense, but.

The moment I hear that, I already know the conversation is about to shift. Most of the time it’s not really honesty, it’s just a setup for something blunt or unnecessary. And no offense basically means offense is coming, just wrapped in a warning label.

Instead of keeping things open, it instantly makes the other person brace themselves, and the whole vibe just drops.
