So I recently checked out Farcraft and noticed the soundtrack consists of AI-generated tracks, along with quite a alot of AI-generated images. I asked the developer (r/Riitoken / u/Riitoken) about it in a pretty straightforward way, just curiosity why so much of the game relies on AI.
He ended up insulting me, then banned me from the subreddit and blocked me.
Look, I get that AI tools are becoming more common in game dev. But why do some indie devs get so defensive and aggressive the moment you mention it? It feels like there’s this weird insecurity or shame around it. If you’re proud of your work, why not just be transparent instead of lashing out and silencing people who notice?
I’m genuinely curious what others think. Is heavy AI use something devs should be open about, especially when selling the game? Or is it normal now to treat it like a dirty secret and attack anyone who brings it up? Feels like transparency would build more trust in the long run, not less.
Just disappointing to see
