So about 2 months ago, decided to overhaul like 80-90% of my suspension (went with tein flex z coils, also did rear adjustable upper control arms, all new sway bar links, front lower control arms with new ball joints). Yesterday however, heard some clunking/thumping noises and decided to take it to the mechanic since I was almost completely sure it wasn’t my struts since I just did them recently. Well… turned out my rear driver shock has a ton of play in it at the top mount. I will be attaching videos (sorry about the quality) of how bad it looks. Asked the mechanic if i can just ride it out like that for a few days/weeks and they told me it should be fine, that it’ll just be making noises. What really concerns me is the top mount weld. It seems like the metal sheet that is the support is lifting probably due to the play but not entirely sure. Not sure if that’s just how the car was built since both sides are a bit different. But I do need some advice since it is my daily driver 😭. Also the top threads are stripped due to the shop trying to tighten everything :( (which I did offer as a possibility to this issue). I’m not sure if I installed it wrong or was just due to a defective unit. Again, any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏
