I made an edit with Bekasi and tried to encapsulate the emotional angle of Jaskirat/Hamza and the dilemmas he goes through in the film. It’s a bit lengthy (my longest edit I’ve made so far), but I hope it’s a decent one! 😊🙏

I wanted to compare the Rotten Tomatoes score for these films and I was baffled by what I saw. Both D1 and D2 have a negative critic score, while having a highly positive score (the audience knows ball, not the critics), while a film like Pathaan has both a highly critic and audience score.

However, the review that these so called critics gave between these films made me feel like that they didn’t actually watch the film and felt like hating on the film to be cool (or more likely they were paid to do this, not very surprising)

This includes the likes of mahaan reviewers such as Shri Sucharita Tyagi, Shri Rahul Desai, Shri Siddhant Adlakha, Shri Rohan Naahar, Shri Carla Hay and more. When you read their reviews, it becomes pretty clear that they didn’t watch D1/D2 and are making statements that don’t make sense such as Rahul Desai, who says “All style, no substance.”

In D1 and D2, its able to balance style and substance, while giving us emotional moments in both films that feel grounded and layered, unlike in Pathaan, where it tries to be emotional, but fails and falls completely flat. D2 has a lot of emotional moments that allow us to feel them and be marinated in it and the ending is literally perfect in terms of emotions, execution and meaning.

Another review that baffled me the most is from Shri Rohan Naahar who says that D2 is “ought to be cancelled on artistic grounds alone before even a word is spoken about its problematic politics.” But for Pathaan, he says “Paathan got Indians across the world to cheer for a Pakistani ex-ISI agent, and Pakistanis to cheer for a Bollywood superstar. Nobel Peace Prize or bust.” 🙄 LIKE WHAT.

I won’t go though them all, but it truly makes me mad when I see reviews like this that aren’t logically sensible and don’t have a solid base to back it up. I respect those that don’t like the film and i think it allows for different perspectives to be brought up, but basing a review without solid claims is just illogical and baffling. I would honestly love to have a chat with these critics someday to show them their credibility and what they stand for.

What are your thoughts on this?
