Hey everyone,
Had something a bit concerning happen and wanted to get some opinions.
I was driving my car pretty hard on the highway when I suddenly got a warning on the dash:
“Transmission: malfunction! You can continue driving with limited function. Please contact Service.”
At that moment:
The car wouldn’t go above 4th gear and couldn’t switch into Sport mode. Basically went into limp mode.
I pulled over right away, checked things out, but nothing seemed obviously wrong. After letting the car sit and restarting it, the warning completely disappeared.
When I got home, I scanned it and got:
P0811 Excessive Clutch Slippage
I cleared the code and took it back out to test. Shifts feel completely normal, sport mode worked again. I did a pull (floored it in Sport and dynamic) but everything seemed to have returned to normal. No warning lights came back on…
So now I’m trying to figure out if it was a misread, actual clutch wear or maybe heat induced clutch slip??
Appreciate any insight before I decide whether to bring it in or just monitor it.
