I've never played competitive pokemon before so sorry if this is a dumb question.

Does being in the top 1000 on champions actually mean you're in the top 1000 in the world or are there a lot of good players not playing Pokemon champions?

On the flip side, are there any people who find the champions has them rated lower than they realistically perform in VGC tournaments and rankings?

For context, I am hovering around 12,000th and like 1950 elo but don't feel like I'm coming up against super strong players consistently, the MB2 players I've versed absolutely destroy me though.

Edit: I'm mostly asking because I'm really enjoying champions and would maybe like to go to in-person events in the future but don't want to delude myself beforehand.
