Hi, I went to urgent care yesterday with swelling and redness in my pinky finger. The PA said it could be cellulitis or herpetic whitlow and prescribed cephalexin and valacyclovir. How would I go about getting a definitive answer on what it is. I don’t want to go to the er for a non emergency issue, but I’m feeling really unsure about next steps and would like to know if it is related to hsv since this would be a first.
