Pelvic Fracture Surgery Tomorrow

Nova is our baby girl and she's having pelvic surgery tomorrow. If you could spare a prayer for her to be safe and comfy it would be much appreciated.

She has Addison's disease (well managed) and I'm basically a helicopter dog mom so I'm worried. I hate that she has to stay overnight at the hospital.

Chihuahua with Broken Pelvis

Apx 10 years old
16 lbs
Addison's Disease well managed since 2022
Also takes Enalaprel and Dasuqin daily
Location USA

Fully indoor dog who lives with doting adults. Sofa and bed princess. Never outside off leash or alone.

Woke up this morning wouldn't bear weight on back leg. Yelping and trembling. Ravenous appetite for breakfast though.

Went immediately to her vet. XRay shows broken pelvis. We have no idea how this could happen. The highest place we can imagine her falling from is back of the sofa or our bed???

According to consult between our vet and surgical vet she is a good candidate for surgery. They see no issues with bone density or any indication of cancer or anything that would compromise the bone. Just a bad break? They will call us tomorrow to schedule.

They said likely Thursday. Does that seem right? To wait 3 days?

I'm just so concerned at how this happened. Obviously we will follow their advice but if anyone has input on healing, what to expect, therapies, etc . I would be so grateful as I'm worrying until they call in the morning.

I have the xray - they are calling it a clean break and unusual as it is just one and not two as they normally see? For some reason the option to attach it is greyed out.

Appetite remains good. In fact I was preparing to serve her breakfast on couch while waiting for vet to open when she flung herself off the sofa and came in the kitchen to scarf down her breakfast.

I am a Birk girl - boots, Bostons, sandals, and slippers.

The only Birkenstock I've ever not loved was Madrid Big Buckle.

Gizeh are my favorite in their sandal line.

I'm drawn to these braided leather but wonder

If that braid is really comfortable?
