Running Boards

Wife needed them for easier entry. They don’t reduce ground clearance substantially, but it’s not an issue for us in any case since our days of off-roading are over. I put them on over a weekend. Not too bad, just needed to remove the wheel arch and lower body trims (not the ones on the doors). You will need to have spare fastener clips as virtually all the clips on the lower body trim will break off when you remove the trim. One or two of the wheel arch clips also broke off.

Overall, I thought they turned out nice and go well with the OEM trim pieces on our CX-50. The running boards were sourced off Amazon.

For those not liking it, I get your reasons. It’s not for everyone. But there are other posts in this sub that asked about running boards, so I wanted to share our experience with those who are interested. If you like it, great; if not, that’s ok, too. But if you have someone with mobility issues or you develop them someday, you may come to appreciate these more.
