Is David Attenborough the only current national treasure?
Maybe it's because I'm relatively young but I think he might be the only figure in the UK right now that is universally accepted as a national treasure, across generations.
And, perhaps he might be the last for a while.
Unless I'm wrong...?
Edit: Judi Dench is probably a close second, maybe less well known with anybody less than 10 when Skyfall came out though, whereas 10 year olds today wil still know exactly who David Attenborough is.
Paul McCartney and Ian McKellen are up there too.
Also really surprised so few people are suggesting Rowan Atkinson who even if he hasn't produced the same body of work as the others everybody from every generation knows who he is and enjoys his work.
