Hey there, just wanted to come here real quick and share my experience with an *employer*. So I work at a building with different suites, each suite is its own business that's operating. Today, while heading to the elevator, a lady approached me and was like "would you be interested in a part-time position to make some extra income?" at first I was like no I'm not interested, and then she insisted by saying it's only going to take me few hours a day, I ended up giving her my number and she asked me if I can come to her office during my lunch break so she would walk me over through what I will be doing. Now, as I come into her "office," I am met by a receptionist; this place has so many pictures and trophies all over the place. I asked about the name of the person who approached me, two other people were talking to other people working there 1:1. We sat separately on a table, she asked some few questions about me, and if my mom lived with me? before any interview, before telling me what the job is, before even taking a look at my resume, she asked me immediately to send her my sin number, my study and work permit (of course I haven't) and that was when I became very suspisious, I have never seen an employer ask for a work permit or a sin number before conducting any skill assessment to a potential candidate (knowing that this *company* is a financial service institution that's been in business for 50 years, as she said) I ended up rejecting the offer and told her that I'm not interested, and then she asked me if I can refer someone else from where I work?
Also, at one point, I told her that I'm taking the day off tomorrow, and she told me we can meet in her building downtown for an interview *as she lives by Shutter Street*. I told her I'm meeting some of my friends, and she immediately asked about the location and where I live? This was the weirdest experience I've ever had in my 3 years of living here, and it seems very sketchy given the circumstances. What do you think? Should I contact authorities?
