Pond Snail
Hello!
I think this sub is more about aquariums? But thought I'd try my luck!
We have a small man made pond on my parents property, it isnt well maintained, so it's full of algae.
This year, the edges of the pond are suddenly full of snails? I have never noticed this before! We had fish in the past, and frogs use the pond to lay their eggs, so there's plenty of tadpoles as well. The current tadpoles are about the same size as the top of your thumb.
I just was wondering if anyone knew what type of snails these are! Or any idea how they got here? Spring time, fields flood from melting snow, so I'm not sure if they traveled across wet fields to get here.
Online says fresh water snails often carry parasites, so I'd like to ID these snails to see if they're safe to let them be, or not. :)
Thanks for any help!
