State-by-state title advice needed!
I’m looking to build a state-by-state resource guide for our sales team and would love input from others in dealership titling/F&I/office operations. We’re a dealership in Colorado, and one of our biggest recurring pain points is out-of-state deals coming back delayed, rejected, or needing corrections because requirements vary so much by state. My goal is to create a binder/playbook for our sales managers that includes things like:
- State-specific title/registration requirements
- How to properly complete each state’s title application
- Wet signature vs digital signature requirements
- Notary requirements
- POA requirements
- Insurance requirements
- Odometer disclosure/state-specific forms
- Common rejection reasons or mistakes
- Any weird quirks your DMV/state has that trip dealers up
Does anyone already have a resource like this they’d be willing to share (even as a starting point)? Also, for those of you in dealership accounting, title, registration, F&I, or DMV-related roles in other states:
What are the most common mistakes you see on out-of-state deals?
Especially things that make you immediately send paperwork back 😅
Really hoping to build something that helps our team get cleaner deals upfront instead of fixing preventable issues on the back end.
Appreciate any advice!
