Hi All

Apologies for the long post. Really hoping somebody can help with this, Octopus support have been a bit useless and don't seem to be able to give me a straight answer (very rare to be fair).

For Info:

Charger: Hypervolt 3

Car 1: VW ID Buzz LWD (91Kwh)

Car 2: Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge (78kwh)

So previously I was on the Octopus Go Tariff but recently got an email saying prices were increasing on May 1st etc. I looked into Intelligent Octopus and thought that seemed like a good deal and is currently offering cheaper rates than locking in on the regular Go Tarriff for 12 months. During my reading I saw that I could integrate with either the cars or the charger.

I've now switched over, and having followed the steps in the app, was able to successfully get set up.

However, this is where my issue starts. During the set up, I provided the detail of Car 1 (ID Buzz) and the charger. I was then asked to sign in and give Octopus access to VW services which all went fine. Following that, I was able to see the ID Buzz in the app along with state of charge etc etc. All fine at this point.

I then repeated the same steps to add car 2 (XC40) to the app but was given an error message that it cannot be added.

So from here I called Octopus and was told that I'd need a second charger to be able to charge the second car. Absolutely ridiculous but also feels like this is wildly wrong. I explained that I will never have both cars charging at the same time and was then told that Intelligent Octopus can only support one car so the second car would not benefit from the cheaper rates...Again, feels completely wrong.

This is where I started to experiment. I removed car 1 from the octopus devices and registered again with car 2. This time, rather than being asked to log into any car services, I was asked to provide access to my charger, which again, went through with no issues. I guess this is because the Volvo is a bit older and doesn't have any API connection to them to access.

On my Octopus app, it now shows the hypervolt charger as the device rather than the car.

So my question is, am I right in assuming that this approach will work for being able to charge both cars?

I'm guessing that the octopus app is always working on an expected maximum charge of 78kwh if set to add 100% because I told it about the XC40 during the latter set up process? So even if the VW is plugged in and I tell it to add 50%, it will add 39kwh as that is half of the XC40 capacity?

Thanks
