AITAH for kicking my friend out of my Car?
Ok for reference I (22 yo male) live with my best friend who I’ll call ROOMMATE (23 yo male). We met through our other Roommate in college who has known and been friends with Roommate since middle school. We all became friends and work on a bunch of projects together and I consider them my chosen brothers. (Also for context both are unemployed and I’ve been spotting ROMMATES rent for the past three months and every time I ask if he can pay me back he says sure but then kinda puts it off. Not a huge deal cuz like I said I’m super close with these guys and I’m financially stable enough to cover it but it still just kinda bugs me.)
One night I was driving both roommates home along with two other friends after a movie night. Roommate was tired and was falling asleep most of the movie (as he usually does most movie nights but we normally have them at our house and he has the option to go to his room) so he was trying to sleep in my car in the left back passenger seat (right behind me). As we’re driving homE, OTHER roommate and core friend #1 were casually just cracking jokes when out of nowhere ROOMMATE just perks up and starts screaming at the top of his lungs to “SHUT THE FUCK UP! I WISH I COULD CUT MY EARS OFF, etc.” he’s screaming at the back of my head as he’s sitting behind me as I’m trying to focus on driving so I calmly tell him to chill out, which OTHER ROOMMATE cited as “throwing gasoline on the fire” because ROOMMATE then decides to turn his attention to me and starts threatening me, stating “SHUT THE F*** UP (OP) im gonna kick your a** when we get home, the moment you park we’re running a f*****g fade!!” Naturally I’m confused as we had no prior argument that day, let alone any one on one conversation so I’m asking what I did and he just keeps repeating/screaming the threat, I can’t see behind me to tell if he’s joking as I’ve never seen him THIS ANGRY before or why he’s shaking my seat and I get distracted to the point where I miss my turn so I tell him “alright get out of my car then.” And pull over on the side of the road. He says some shit like “perfect I don’t wanna be in here” or something along those lines and gets out. I drop the rest of the friends off and get home with no sign of ROOMMATE and go to sleep thinking nothing of this and that it will all blow over in the morning until I see that he had sent a text shortly after I kicked him out of my car stating “I want that fade when I get home bro”.
