I’m looking for some advice or to see if anyone else has dealt with this specific issue with Converge Fiber.

I’ve been a subscriber since May 2022, so I’ve been with them for about four years now. Because I’ve been beyond the standard 36-month contract for a while, I decided it was finally time to permanently disconnect. The customer service has been consistently poor, and I'm ready to move on.

I was confident that I could terminate the account without any exit fees since my original contract ended a long time ago. However, when I reached out to their customer service, they dropped a bombshell: they claim my lock-in period reset.

Apparently, because I opted for a netflix plan upgrade in May 2025, they are insisting that a new 24-month lock-in period started from that date. They are now telling me I have to pay "remaining months" fees all the way until 2027 if I want to close the account now.

Is it even legal for them to reset the lock-in period without a new signed contract specifically for the lock-in? Help please 😭
