Hi everyone,
I’m currently looking for a therapist to start a long-term therapeutic commitment. I’m primarily looking to understand my own behavior better, particularly surrounding religious trauma. I know finding someone who specializes *exclusively* in this might be difficult, so I’m mostly looking for a professional who is willing to learn and explore this alongside me. I am not looking for immediate fixes or forced "deep insights" I want a collaborative partner in this process.
I also strongly suspect I am neurodivergent and want to unpack how this impacts my family dynamics, marriage, and general relationships. I tend to process the world in a very methodical, "bottom-up" way. I need to understand the absolute foundational principles and mechanics of things before I can move forward. I also experience intense, sustained hyper-focus on highly complex, technical systems and hyper-specific routines. I'm looking for guidance on how to navigate a world that doesn't always accommodate this cognitive style, and how to better bridge the gap between how my brain works and my interpersonal life.
**A few important preferences and values:**
Identity - I belong to the Dalit community and i identify as a bisexual male and I am married (28). I would strongly prefer a therapist from the same community, though it isn't a strict deal breaker if the person is deeply allied, culturally competent, and safe.
Worldview - I am a socialist. I firmly believe in free healthcare, free education, and a sustainable living wage. I need a therapist whose worldview aligns with or fundamentally respects these principles, as they dictate how I interact with the world.
Demographics - Male, ideally around 35–40 years old.
note - edited using Gemini for grammar and phrasing.
Thank you.
