You will naturally shy away from hard skills. You’ve always been able to learn things quickly when you needed to.
This is understandable, but it’s also a trap. For the love of Hades, develop at least one useful hard skill deeply. Not because you’ll necessarily use it forever, but because you need the mental scaffolding. You need to know what it actually feels like to push through boredom, plateaus, and frustration. That experience will serve you the day you decide to go all-in on something that truly matters. The future may belong to the multipotentialite and the polymath, but the polymath is rarely obvious to outsiders. Your wide interests and fast mind can actually make it harder for people to see your value right away. You need a clear strong signal, something concrete that gets you in the door so they can figure out who they have.
You will also likely struggle to relate to most people. It makes life smoother if you intentionally develop a mask that is good with people. It’s about learning how to connect so you can actually accomplish things. People are paramount to any meaningful accomplishment. Almost nothing big happens without them.
Art is a great outlet for the intensity you carry. Protect that part of you. But be honest with yourself because art alone will probably not pay your bills or feed your children until you’re much older unless you treat it with extreme seriousness and avoid numbing yourself with substances. The world is full of brilliant artists who get overlooked. There’s too much luck involved, and your contribution is too important to leave entirely to chance.
If you choose to have children someday, they will be difficult. The growth that comes from raising your own kids is hard to overstate. They matter enormously for you and for the future. No judgement if you choose not to but if you can, you should. ESPECIALLY your kids. All frontier technology and innovation occurs due to this neurological wiring that we are gifted/cursed with.
You're going to want to do something meaningful at some point. It will keep you up at night. Don't fight it, just find out what it is and dedicate your life to it. Or don't, I'm not your father.
The single most important thing I can tell you is this, stay positive when possible. The stories and outcomes you create in your head have a powerful way of becoming reality. If you haven't already discovered this, try it out. Think of a realistic scenario about your life that you'd like to have happen and decide it will be real, your subconscious will go to work to make it happen.
You’re wired differently. That wiring is uncomfortable at times, but it’s also a tremendous gift. Use it well.
