So I’ve had consults with different orthodontists. Some have told me I would need extractions to begin the alignment process. I’ve had other orthos tell me I wouldn’t need any that I have plenty of room.
I found an office I really like because they were upfront and honest with me about the process. Well I went in for my last consult before picking up my trays (I’ve had 2 consults so far just to go over treatment) and he’s now kind of pushing the idea of extracting 4 premolars and applying metal braces instead … I made it known I do not want extractions and he assured me it could be done with none and Invisalign. He said extractions or not metal braces or not my outcome and time line would be generally the same.
My question to this group is … has anyone else been recommended extractions and declined it? Were you pleased with the outcome? Did you have complications without extractions?? Those who went through with extractions, do you agree it was necessary??
