I have long recognized that my Silent Gen parents were simply unaware of mainstream culture throughout those years. They were smart enough and reasonably competent at their work, but social culture was a void they cared little about.

They of course struggled with the advent of tech, but also did not really care to learn, as if it was a fad they could ignore.

Their interactions with the world did not contain curiosity or a desire to learn of things outside their sphere.

I benefit from my own kids and the Internet to stay culturally current, and we all are now forced to stay tech proficient. Plus I travel and am keen on the wider world.

So do you feel cooler and wireless and in touch more than your parents ever were?
