Recently purchased from a colleague and then I brought it to a dealership for an evaluation and a multipoint inspection. They recommended, among others, that the transmission fluid needs to be changed. I asked my colleague, who was the second owner after 20k miles, if it was ever changed and he said he doesn’t remember. Mentioned that to the dealer and they said if it wasn’t ever changed, to just leave it alone. This was concurred by another third party mechanic. They both said that the transmission may give out more problems if I change the fluid.
Then another mechanic said it needs to be changed. That if completely flushed the transmission should not give any problems.
What are your opinions and experiences? Should I change the original transmission fluid on a 2003 CRV LX with 198k miles?
