I found a pair of Crockett and Jones Shell Cordovan Loafers that look to be in pretty decent shape with the exception of a small tear at the strap. Are these a lost cause or is there a way to prevent that crack from spreading? Any US cobblers who would be a good fit for a job like this?

I’ve also reached out to the manufacturer for a factory repair and a resole to see if they’re able to do anything. Fingers crossed!

Snagged some Alden’s on FB Marketplace and wanted to take some side by side pictures to compare them to the Shell Cordovan Randolph. These Alden’s are on the Aberdeen last and half a size smaller.

The biggest thing that stands out to me is the quality of the clicking is marginally better and the stitching as well. Would it justify spending another $300-400 retail? I’m not sure. The Randolphs are certainly competitive.
