I work for a small company where the owner is also my direct supervisor. Two of his children, whom I’ll call Steve and Jen, also work for the company.

Last year, the owner decided to take his family on a week-long vacation over Christmas and New Year’s. He also invited another employee, whom I’ll call Ashley, even though she is not a family member. My remaining coworker and I were only informed the week of the trip that Ashley would also be going, which made it seem as though he had been trying to keep it from us.

We were told Ashley was going to serve as a “babysitter” for his two youngest children and she wouldn't actually be having a "vacation". However, throughout the trip, they posted photos of everyone relaxing by the pool, enjoying drinks, and having fun...including Ashley. Essentially, she received a free vacation while my coworker and I were left alone to manage the office during Christmas week. We were even unable to leave early on Christmas Eve, as we normally would, because no management was in the office to authorize it. It still bugs me to this day when I think about it!

My coworkers constantly take advantage of the fact that I will go out and grab lunch, I typically will grab theirs as well when I go out. They have never offered to give me gas money or anything (you fly I buy). It was cold and snowing and I wasn't really wanting to go out and grab lunch. We all decided on the same place, and they automatically assumed I would go pick it up.

When I suggested that we draw a name to go pick up the lunch they decided they were going to use DoorDash instead. They also know that I will not pay the extra money for DoorDash (the food costs more and there are delivery fees and also a tip) so I am guessing they were saying that to get me to go pick it up. Instead, I just walked out the door to go pick up my food without saying anything.

One of my coworkers texted me asking what I was getting and when I told him the restaurant (which is the one that they all agreed on) he asked if I would pick his up too. I told him sure, I can do that for a delivery fee. He said no and gave me an attitude, so I just picked up my food. When I got back, they were all trying to figure out what to do for lunch and didn't end up getting anything to eat.

I am finally working on setting boundaries, and it feels good to say no for once. It sucks though because they iced me out for the rest of the week on lunch plans and made it a point to pick up each other's lunches and not include me at all. I had to start picking up everyone's lunch again for them to start including me and I don't know what to do at this point.
