Became a friendship vibe help

Hello hello so there’s this girl who lives in the same student residence as me.

At first we used to randomly run into each other all the time, but it was just polite “hi/bye” interactions and smiles. One day I joked like, “We see each other every day but we never even introduced ourselves.” So we finally introduced ourselves — names, studies, where we’re from, etc.

After that, whenever we’d leave or come back at the same time, we’d have small hallway conversations. Then she started making a game out of how often we crossed paths. Like one day we saw each other twice and she held up “2” with her fingers from far away while smiling at me. Sometimes when she sees me coming back to the residence, she slows down on purpose so we walk together. She even said one day we should try to beat our record for how many times we run into each other in one day.

The problem is… I’m a shy guy. I never really made a move. I talked to her whenever I could, but I never escalated anything because I was too nervous. Over time things cooled down and I think she assumed I wasn’t interested. We basically became polite neighbors again.

But recently we ended up doing laundry at the same time and we talked for like 40 minutes straight about studies, movies, music, food, our backgrounds, etc. Usually our conversations are short because they happen while walking in the hallway, but this was the first real conversation we had sitting down. Even after our laundry finished we kept talking and walked back together.

Before leaving I asked for her Instagram and she gave it to me.

The next day I texted her: “Hey, it was cool talking at the laundry room, nice change from hallway conversations lol.”

She replied: “Hello yeah”

I answered something like: “Well now even if we don’t run into each other, we can still talk here.”

She just liked the message.

Sometimes I reply to her stories. One time she replied to mine and we talked a little.

But now I feel like maybe I waited too long and it became more of a friendship vibe.

Do you guys think there’s still hope or did I miss my chance? And if there’s still a chance, what should I actually do now?
