First tomato harvest

First tomato harvest

Three little tomatoes but very proud of my little success story so far.

Moved to Florida last fall and have a small south-facing patio that has a lot of shade. No car and barely making above the poverty line. Fresh food from the grocery really isn’t an option with transportation and high costs.

So I’ve been setting aside money weekly and slowly building up my patio garden. Was able to plant some greens over the winter. After the last cold I planted my tomatoes outdoors and these are the first three to ripen. Greens lasted a lot longer than I thought when I kept them mostly in the shade.

Trying out some other plants. Have bigger plans for when the weather cools in the fall. Hoping to get some region-specific tomato seeds for next year but the current tomato plants are doing ok right now in partial shade.

Hogwarts re-painting nearly finished

Officially, the bridge and castle had a projected completion date of the 21st and 22nd of May but the schedule is currently showing the castle projection show as starting on the 30th. First two dates were from a shared Guest Services email awhile back.

Castle looks great in person but also makes more noticeable how much Hippogryph and Hagrid’s need some love too.

Wonder if there will be a Hogsmede expansion in 2028 tearing down the Dr. Phillips High School football stadium to expand stroller and ECV parking now that the Disney crowd has moved over to Universal. Maybe add a few more toilets too including a family restroom.

So if the state department of agriculture is required to inspect amusement parks for safety, then when the park is being actively negligent and breaking safety laws and putting guests and employees at risk for death….who takes action and who do you report it to that will actually do something about it?

Normal businesses would be closed immediately over this type of thing until corrective action taken.

Employees at the ride were like yeah, we spoke up about that immediately and leadership ignored us. Very apparent the worry and shock in their facial expressions and voice.

All three parks are closing early tonight for private events too. 6pm for both IOA and USF and 7pm for Epic.

Velocicoaster did eventually open during EPA but Hagrid’s is still closed.

Time for Grad Bash to move to SeaWorld now that Epic is open and closing early for private events. Disney ended their graduation parties years ago.

I was given a $65 gift card to use a month or so ago and have tried finding something to buy but always come up empty.

It’s specific to that company and there are many options from themed clothing to restaurants and decorations. Nothing basic like food staples or laundry detergent. I have enough blankets. I don’t need a third mug. I have enough clothing.

I just don’t want anything. Feels weird when everyone around me is shopping for expensive stuff but mentally I’m satisfied with what I have and my lifestyle.

So a win for the minimalist mindset of wanting less and being content with what one already has.

I’m still trying to find food at a restaurant to eat since I almost never eat out and should for the experience since it’s free for me. I just normally don’t eat out because I don’t find it enriching compared to other activities.

Been happening a lot recently. If you want to guarantee a night/evening ride on Hagrid’s, I suggest getting in line an hour before park close. When at capacity for the night, both standby and Express queues are closed.
