I bowl in a couple leagues and so do my teammates except for one guy in the newest League we joined. The backstory is my bowling friends and I have been bowling for about 15 years or so competitively and we're in that 185 to 200 average range however, one of our non-bowler friends wanted to give it a try. We were happy to have him. He got a hand-me-down ball from someone and it's a venom shock but it only weighs 12 lb and I suspect after drilling it's actually like an 11 lb 13 oz so he gets a lot of deflection as a man in his mid-thirties that is fairly strong. He has little to no real bullying experience so his form leaves a lot to be desired. But he is fairly athletic and plays a few other sports so he does pick up on things quickly and is willing to practice and learn. I'll cut to the chase. The rest of our team is going to go in on a ball for him for his birthday and have it drilled so that he can have a piece of equipment in that 15 lb range. Looking for some ideas as it's been a long time since any of us have gotten a piece of gear for a complete beginner. As of right now, we're kind of thinking about the ocean vibe? But I wanted to see what others suggested in the community. His stats are he's about 5 ft 10 240 lb has a relatively straight release but does get a little bit of movement on the ball and his goal is to learn to get some proper revs on the ball . He is a one-handed bowler that uses both fingers and thumb for a traditional style and his average sits about 129 as he's filled in a couple of times for us in our other league and we've had our first week of our newest league completed already .Thanks in advance for any and all input! If there's any other information that would be relevant, please feel free to ask and I will reply.
