Hey, I’m 24M doing MTech at IIT. Since my batch has very few girls (and most are already in relationships), I rarely get chances to naturally interact with new people.
The thing is, I’m actually decent at conversations once they start. My problem is initiating them. Past experiences made me overthink a lot, so I hesitate before texting anyone.
There are a few girls from my college whom I follow on Instagram, and they follow me back too, but neither they nor I post much, no stories, no regular content, so there’s never any obvious context to reply to or start a conversation from.
I don’t want to randomly DM and come across as creepy or desperate. So I wanted to ask:
- How do you normally start chatting with someone you don’t know personally but follow on Instagram?
- What kind of first message feels normal and not weird?
- Girls of Reddit, what kind of DM immediately feels uncomfortable, and what feels genuine?
Would appreciate honest advice from people who are good at this because I seriously overthink the first message 😭
Thanks.
