I find myself obsessing over the way things sound that I lose perspective on if the song is any good (you know, the thing that matters). I end up comparing songs like ‘oh that doesn’t sound as hi-Fi’ and it’s really distracting. I’ve probably written off some really incredible songs because learning mixing and production has made me listen to songs from that perspective.

Any advice?

I’m starting to record my own vocals and I get so anxious over it. I think I know how I want it to sound, but I’m forever doubting myself and double-thinking it. I don’t want it to sound gimmicky or corny, I want it to be taken seriously. From an artistic perspective, I want people to look back at this time in my early songs and not wince (including myself).

Any advice for overcoming this? Thanks
