My sons bball coach doesn’t like him what should I do?

My 16yo son started basketball in year 9 and his coach at the time was incredible. He could see what my son was capable of and moulded him into quite the formidable centre. My son made the rep team that year, and has done so for the last two years.

Halfway through the season last year, his coach left, and another dad stepped up to the challenge. It was immediately clear he wasn’t a fan of my son and wouldn’t give him as much game time. My son was selected again to play for his year group and this man single’s him out, leaving him on the beach while giving the rest of the team ample game time. To the point where they’re exhausted and walking on the court.

I understand that he’s not a “starting 5” player but it’s very disheartening watching my son get less than 5 minutes of gameplay. Careful not to show his disappointment, he tried to prove himself and managed to turnover the ball and get rebounds within that short timeframe. His coach put him on the last minute of a close game and my son managed turning over the ball leading to a tiebreaker. The coach immediately pulled him off afterwards.

After the game my son decided to have a conversation and asked if he could get more game time in the next game as he didn’t get to play any of the third quarter to which the coach responded “l know, and smiled” disappointed my son walked away. Upon hearing this, my blood is boiling and I have a good mind to write a complaint about this coach as that seems like he’s taking joy in leaving my son on the bench. My son has asked for me to let him handle it. Reddit community, what do I do?
