I started interviewing for a role earlier this month with the recruiter (it’s a big company in tech), and then on April 17th I had another interview with the team (including the hiring manager). It went really well — he even said my introduction was one of the best he’d heard in a long time and that the conversation was very “refreshing”.
The following Monday, I interviewed with the director, and that also went very well. The next day, the hiring manager messaged me on LinkedIn saying he really enjoyed speaking with me and that the recruiter would follow up soon (she had been on vacation).
She reached out that same week (Wednesday) and told me the team really liked me and the next step would be a reference check through SkillSurvey, and I got everything completed by the end of the day. (omg 5 references and each one of them had to complete a form with 3 points of improvement and 3 strengths)!!!
On Friday, she told me my reference check was running and that I’m the frontrunner for the role. She also mentioned some people were returning from vacation and that they’d be in touch this week.
Now it’s Wednesday night and I haven’t heard anything. I sent her a polite follow-up this morning but haven’t gotten a response.
I’m honestly feeling pretty anxious at this point. Is this kind of delay normal after being told you’re the frontrunner? Or could something have changed?
