I remember the majority of this year being dukie butt when it came to stories but Whitefall was my favorite so far, The characters and dialogue really are what carried the story and i quite enjoyed the slow start and mellow drama before shit ramped up, I can see the issue with the scene of scrangle and Chris as it was cheesy and i think could be done without qnd not much would be loss. The greatest weakness is the set up for the horror, the idea that factions would form before the first week is a stretch let alone cannibalism happening within the first month when food is present let alone to the degree where fuckin Ackerman is hunting and trafficking mfs it's kinda ridiculous to believe sane humans to devolve into such a state especially in survival where community is what is most important, that idea of community devolving into savagery is what i feel CK walker missed. If the story played out where the first week everyone was still friendly with each other but they soon started to realize how in fucked they are with the storm being staying for too long than what was told and the lack of any buses, then go into rationing around the 2nd week then hostility by the first month, I would believe the motivations of Ackerman and his group but it's literally just plops everyone into Lord of the flies like Mack says. Shit makes no sense for how quick it goes to shit.
But I still love this story I'd give it a 7.3 conservative rating and a 8 generous rating, It feels like a very strong first or second draft given some edits to the pacing and letting the 2nd act have more time to flesh out the setting, it has an easy 10/10 story and would be a spectacular one season TV show.
I'm just glad we out of the creepslop season and back to decent stories
